While Europe’s top leagues continue their schedule throughout the Christmas and winter period, Germany enjoys the comfort of having a winter break. For almost 20 years this was the moment to enlighten the fans indoors. However, the Budenzauber has become somewhat neglected over the last years due to injury fears. However, nothing is more enjoyable than a good football match under a roof during winter time.
The DFB Hallenmasters
Indoor football enjoyed a successful spell during the 1980s and 1990s in Germany as demand for football during the winter break increased. The TV stations recognized the potential and started broadcasting events and in 1988 the DFB reacted and officially created the DFB Hallenmasters, the German indoor football masters.
